ELLIS S. CHESBROUGH
Ellis Sylvester Chesbrough was the engineer in charge of designing Chicago's sewage system. Even though he failed twice, he created an efficient water system on his third trial. His designs often called for enormous engineering jobs, such as raising Chicago's buildings and ground level ten feet up and reversing the current of the Chicago River.

LOUIS H. SULLIVAN
Louis Sullivan came to Chicago with an imaginative mind and found a blank canvas to paint his ideas on. He designed the Auditorium Building/Theater with Dankmar Adler, which was the largest building in the world and the tallest building in North America at the time. Sullivan is known for his intricate designs on the Auditorium Theater, the Prudential Building, and many more. With his complex patterns and beautiful designs, he defied the straight lines and standard architecture of the late 19th century. He is still considered one of the greatest architects that ever lived.

DANKMAR ADLER
Originally the lead architect of the Auditorium Theater, Adler worked with Sullivan numerous times on many different projects. Later on, they created the architectural firm Adler & Sullivan and became very famous amongst architects.

DANIEL BURNHAM
Daniel Hudson Burnham is known for being the architectural supervisor of the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. He appointed all of the Fair's architects (including Sullivan and Adler). Along with Frederick Law Olmsted, he was the creator of the Exposition city. He was the creator of urban planning which he provided a spectacular example of in his masterpiece, the "White City" (nicknamed so because all of the buildings but one were white). He was also responsible for the Chicago Plan of 1909.

FREDRICK OLMSTED
Along with Daniel Burnham, Frederick Olmsted created the small utopia known as the White City. He designed the lagoons, basins and interconnecting canals that adorned the Exposition, and created a small island in the middle of the biggest lagoon that provided, in his opinion, "a relief from the busy buildings".

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
Frank Lloyd Wright came to Chicago with an imaginative mind, and creative ideas. He had plans and designs that were, (like Louis Sullivan's) different than everyone else's. He had a fresh perspective for Chicago's everlasting developing architecture industry. His designs and ideas were out of the box and he challenged himself by creating some of the masterpieces of Chicago.

GEORGE PULLMAN
After Ellis Chesbrough built pipes above the ground, people had to dig up from the bottom of the river and put this land over the pipes to make them underground. This raised the ground level by about ten feet, which called for the raising of all the houses, hotels, restaurants, and many other buildings in Chicago. George Pullman perfected a system of moving buildings and put the foundation of the buildings on jacks and lifted the buildings up. This changed the entire city and we'd have buildings underground if it wasn't for Pullman! He also inspired the method that Burnham used when creating the White City: Luxury and beauty at its finest influence people to behave better. As Pullman believed, " quote quote quote"
